Mrs. Gustafson’s English Honor classes is currently reading the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. If you don’t know what Animal Farm is, it represents the Russian Revolution of 1917 and how humans and leaders could make their situation worse. It shows how bad believing in a false revolution could be, and what the resulting consequences are.
The book uses a lot of propaganda due to the fact it’s based off of a revolution. Taking the thought of propaganda, Mrs. Gustafson is having her English Honor classes draw a poster with a motto that resembles propaganda. She started the project on February 27th, and intends to have it done by February 30th. The students are working very hard on finding a proper motto and drawing the poster.
One of the English Honor students from period six, Breanna Meggison, says,” I liked doing it [the poster], I think it was cool to see how people interpreted the characters. I liked winning, it was my favorite part of the day”. Maira Richey, who is also from sixth period, states,” I liked working on the posters. They were really fun to work on, even though I didn’t win.” Maci Cornish and Makenna Quick share similar thoughts.
The honors classes had a lot of fun making these posters, and they worked hard on it. The two winners of each class [Kaden Gasseling and Breanna Meggison from sixth period and Will Nolette and Taryn Erickson from fourth period] hung their posters up around the school, so you can see the hard work they did. She cannot continue doing this due to her leaving, but hopefully the teacher that takes over does.
