The SPUD

About

is the official newspaper of the Alliance High School. It is written, organized, and published by a class of journalism students with the aid and advice of English teacher Tera Digmann. As a group and specifically as a paper, the staff yearns to increase awareness of social conditions, local and national current events, and sports and entertainment updates, while enriching the student body of Alliance High School through a reliable and consistent source of information. While putting together The SPUD, staff members will also get a feel for journalism and get the opportunity to consider it as a career to pursue after graduation.

The paper was formerly printed monthly, but this year we have transitioned to a completely online version of The SPUD. This change has opened the door for many improvements in the day-to-day operations of the newspaper; for instance, an online format means updates are needed more often and this urgency helps to contribute to the authentic feel of working as a journalist through the increased pressure and shortened deadlines.

If you are not a member of the staff but have an idea for an article idea feel free to talk to either Tera Digmann or a staff member and we will do our best to work with you and get your article published. All articles published on The SPUD website are written by Journalism students or guest writers and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the school or Alliance Public Schools administration.
