FFA Week 2024

FFA+Week+2024

National FFA week is in February, it is decided by FFA Chapters around our country. The Alliance FFA celebrated this in many ways from dress-up days to different events. I looked to see what all the FFA chapter did for this week.

On Tuesday, the dress-up theme was country up versus country club! For this theme, kids could dress up as a country person or someone who is at the country club. There were many creative ideas and it was overall an exciting day! I decided to interview the president, Josie Sanders, to ask her a few questions about FFA week. The first question I asked Josie was if the officers got to choose the dress-up themes and how did they choose them. She told me, “Yes, the officer team decided on the day-to-day themes together at our officer team meeting two weeks before FFA week. We researched some common FFA Week themes that other schools have used, picked out some ideas, and then decided on a theme for each day. We used themes that we felt correlated good with FFA.” The next question I asked was how they were doing things different this year than last year, Josie responded with, “This year, we planned a lot more activities than we have in past years. Some new things we are doing this year are a teacher appreciation lunch paired with thank you notes written for each teacher by FFA members, an FFA Kahoot for Dog Pounds to participate in, and different social media posts.” My final question was asking Josie what her favorite dress-up theme is and why it was her favorite. She answered, “My favorite dress up day is Blue and Gold Day, because FFA members wear our official dress to school. I think it is cool for members to pridefully represent FFA throughout the school, and it is always fun to see the respectful recognition that peers and teachers show towards FFA members. We also added a fun “Emblem Tag” game this year on Blue and Gold Day amongst members, so that added to the excitement of the day along with Chapter pictures.”

The next day, Wednesday, the theme was to wear blue and gold. If you were an FFA member though, you were to wear FFA offical dress. It was a hectic day for our chapter, we had green hand and chapter degree ceremonies and photos. There was also a surprise game called do you have an emblem in your pocket, it was a game where three FFA members got an emblem and had to ask around to see who had it. If you had one of the three emblems by the end of the day, you received a gift card.  I interviewed Addison Belford to ask her about it. The first question that I asked was if she received a degree. Her response was, “Yes! I received it on February 21, 2024.” Next thing I asked was if she was enjoying all the fun activities so far, Addison told me, “I am enjoying the week, I think they did really well with putting the week together.” My final question for Addison was what her favorite dress-up day was and why, she said, “My favorite dress-up day was all of the days because everyone gets to express their own sense of style.”

Thursday’s dress-up day was all American! This theme was meant for kids to wear the colors of the American flag and show their pride! The FFA chapter also had a special surprise for the teachers, they hosted a teacher appreciation lunch with letters personalized to the teachers. We also hosted the FFA Nebraska State Officers! The final day of FFA week was Friday, which the theme was wear a hat day. The Dog Pounds also got to do a FFA Kahoot.
