Homecoming week is a week full of excitement and school spirit. From the football game on Friday night to the Mini Olympics, everyone is always ecstatic to participate. This year, homecoming came a little bit earlier than normal. What is a better way to kick off the new school year than with homecoming? Although homecoming can be hectic and chaotic, it is always a great way to get school spirit flowing through the hallways.

This year’s theme for homecoming week is “Disney’s Pixar” and the week is jam-packed full of fun activities for not only students, but the whole town of Alliance! Monday’s theme takes after the Monster’s INC. sequel Monster’s University. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite college gear.

Tuesday’s theme is “Sleeping Beauties”, encouraging everyone to wear their favorite Disney pajamas. The mini Olympics will start on Tuesday, kicking off the Homecoming week activities, Also on Tuesday, the AHS Lady Spikers will be traveling to Chadron. The freshman game will be starting at 5:00 pm with the JV and Varsity teams to follow. Girls golf will be at Chadron starting at 9 am. Softball will play at Scottsbluff with JV starting 4.

Wednesday’s theme takes after the movie The Incredibles. Every student should dress as their favorite superhero or favorite movie character. The high school will run on a pep assembly schedule that dismisses everyone at 3:05. Once the students are dismissed, the whole school will go to the gym for a pep rally held by the cheerleaders and the Dawg Pound.

Thursday students are to wear their tourist and beach themed clothes for Ohana Day, after the popular movie Lilo and Stich. Students will be on an activity schedule and will be participating in a dodge ball tournament that is seeded by the mini Olympics held on Tuesday. The two teams in the championship will take part in a game of capture the flag during the first 15 minutes of coronation which will be held Thursday night starting at 7 pm. The tennis boys will play Torrington at home at 4 pm.

Friday is blue and white day, with a touch of the Disney magic. All students and staff are encouraged to wear their Mickey Mouse ears as they get into their Bulldog spirit. The varsity football boys will play the Grand Island North West Vikings at 6pm for the homecoming game. The Booster Club will be selling blue t-shirts to go along with the blue out that was planned for Friday’s game.
