Honors Convocation is an awards ceremony at the end of the school year awarding students for their hard work academically and their effort in many different classes. Honors Convocation is an annual event, this year taking place on May 5. Teachers nominate students that they believe have done their best in class and have worked the hardest.

The night started off with a welcome from Principal George Clear. After that he handed out academic letters and the Presidential awards to seniors, juniors, and sophomores. The big awards for the night were handed out to Bryce Adamson (Teammates), Peyton Stoike (Hugh O’Brien Award), and Sariah Grant (Nebraska Leadership Seminar).

Throughout the ceremony, teachers handed out certificates to the students they believed worked the hardest or showed the best qualities. Every department handed out certificates. The departments included Industrial Technology and Agriculture, Family and Consumer Science, Math, Language Arts, Foreign Language, Science, Communication and Business, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Art.

Mrs. Dimmitt handed out medals and a certificate to the first, second, and third place winners in the Chadron State Scholastic Contest. After that, Mr. Swanson handed out participation awards to the students who participated in Academic Decathlon.  Mr. Oestman finished off the night with a quick final speech. “I am so glad I get to come to school and learn next to all these amazing and talented young students. It’s a real honor. Thank you.”
