Starting on October 27th, the students at Alliance High School were awarded with an even earlier Friday release than normal for good attendance. On a typical Friday, the students leave at 2:00 p.m., but as a result of earning the attendance goal for September, the school board wanted to reward the students for their efforts through an early dismissal. Not only is this a nice bonus, but it also shows the students that good behavior is acknowledged.
This was not the only Friday that had this early release, two weeks later there was another one on November 10th. On this day, instead of going to classes, the teachers put together a competition. Working together with our dawg pound class we were given challenges such as stacking as many pennies as possible or skiball. “I like them, they’re better. They get me closer to the weekend and it makes it feel longer.” says Emmy Wade when asked if they’d enjoyed the day. At the end of that day, Mr. Hasz held his annual Veterans program showing support and care for his fellow veterans.
It is nice to see the school board and teachers working together to make school more enjoyable. Awarding the student’s good behavior is a great way to influence a continuation of it. There are two more Fridays with these 1:00 p.m. releases promised next semester as well which has the students looking forward to it!
