This year at AHS, the homecoming theme is Mardi Gras. The week of October 11-16 is homecoming week. That means lots of fun dress-up days and exciting activities.

Monday, the eleventh  is Mardi Gras Monday. On this day, students and teachers can wear colorful mardi gras masks. Just make sure it doesn’t cover your whole face! The student council will also hand out Mardi Gras leis. There will be a spirit walk, which is where the drum line will lead us at 2:27 PM to the gym. This is where the mini olympics will take place. The Mini Olympics are minute-to-win-it style games and relay races that students and staff can participate in. Coronation will take place later that night, 7 PM, followed by the Burning of the A.

Tuesday’s theme is meme/vine day. This means dress up as your favorite meme or vine. After school that day, the hallway decorations are due, so they can be judged on Wednesday.

Wednesday is going to be Tacky Tourist Day where you dress as  if you were touring New Orleans. There will also be a pep rally and Mini Olympic finals.

Thursday’s theme is throwback Thursday where you dress in the clothing style of your favorite decade or generation.

Friday is Blue and White day to show school spirit. At 2:30 PM the Homecoming Parade begins. Students are encouraged to ride on their class float during the parade. That night the Homecoming football game will take place. The Alliance Bulldogs will take on the Lexington Minutemen. Saturday is the homecoming dance from 8-11 PM so dress up and head down. We will also be dismissed at one o’clock to watch the parade.  Happy Homecoming!
