FOUR FOREIGN FACES

This year four students have traveled across the globe to experience and learn what is like to live and go to school in America. I am one of this students, my name is Violeta Velasco Roca I am from Mataró, Spain. It is 30 minutes by car from Barcelona. My host family  is Lisa and Chance Splattstoesser. I am 15 years old. In Spain, I was involved in field hockey for two years, here I started practicing softball. I think it’s going to be a great experience because in Spain I can’t practice it. This experience in America is going to be very influential because I am going to see a totally different lifestyle, experience a new culture and new activities and meet new friends.

Lara Marie Rieger is from Wiesbaden, Germany. It is a bigger city with about 300,000 inhabitants 30 minutes from Frankfurt. In Germany my passion was field hockey, but here she is running cross country. She is staying with Holly and Ronald Westemeier and is really loving it. She is sure that her exchange year is going to be a great experience because she gets to experience the American               culture, find new friends, and have a fun time.

Nuria Morell Ortega is from Barcelona, Spain. Her host family is the Stanecs: Tara, Rich, A.J, Keera, and Tabi. She is 15 years old and in 12th grade here. Here in America, she started doing softball and dance, “I have never done softball but I think it’s going to be a good experience”. She will still be practicing softball in Spain if she can. She is doing one exchange year because she want to improve her English level and know new cultures and people.  

Oriol Montero Pache is from Spain, his family is Nate and Jenny Lanik. His siblings are Espen and Brinley.  He came here to play basketball and to improve his English.

I think we are going to have a great experience here and we are going to have a lot of new friends, we will learn a lot of things and how is your lifestyle.
