“Twister Tuesday,” was the second theme for homecoming 2015. Teachers and students mixed and matched up everything that they owned to wear at school. The classes were shortened due to the homecoming activities. This year the students put together teams of eight, four girls and four boys, to participate in Mini Olympics. The games were held outside on the practice football field just east of the high school. The staff put together seven games and put two teams at each game to compete. The team’s rotated games until they got back to were they started. The team with the most points will be the winners of the 2015 Mini Olympics. The prize for first place team is free admissions into the dance on Saturday night. The winning team will be announced Thursday at the second homecoming activity. The Bulldogs capped off Tuesday night with a home volleyball game vs. Gering. The freshmen and junior varsity both lost in three sets. Varsity won the first two sets; played three more very close sets but fell to Gering.

Wednesday was the third day of homecoming with the theme of “Which Witch is Which.” All the teachers wore blue shirts and black pants while the students twinned with their friends. No activities were held Wednesday night due to the no activities past 6 o’clock policy.

Thursday’s theme was “There’s A Storm Coming,” in which students and teachers wore all black. The classes were shortened for the lip sync battle. The battle was held in the performing arts center. The teachers, the volleyball team, The Dawg Pound, and the cheerleaders all preformed. There was a tie between the volleyball team and The Dawg Pound, so they had a dance off. It was decided that the Dawg Pound won the dance off and the volleyball team won the lip sync. The volleyball team hosted Sidney beginning with the freshman team at 5. The freshmen and junior varsity both lost. Varsity also lost to Sidney in three sets.

The last homecoming theme of the week was “There’s No Place Like Homecoming.” The students showed their school spirit by wearing the school colors, blue and white. Every year on the Friday of homecoming, girls who were asked to wear one of the football boy’s jerseys do. The students were on the regular Friday schedule, getting out at 2pm. The homecoming parade started at 2:30pm and after the parade there was a pep rally and a conga line back to the school. Kick off was at 7:00pm vs. Gering. The Alliance Bulldogs took the win 31-14 advancing their record to 3-4.

The homecoming dance was held at the Burkholder on Saturday from 8pm to 11pm. This was the first year that Alliance High School’s homecoming dance was semi-formal in years. The dance had a nice turn out and lots of students had a good time. Homecoming week was an all around success. The students and teachers all participated and enjoyed the activities. Thank you to student council for all of their hard work putting it all together.
