Alliance High Prom 2014

Alliance+High+Prom+2014

Every April, the prom frenzy begins at Alliance High School. Leading up to prom night, students stress to make everything go perfectly. This year’s prom was on April 12th, a little earlier than usual. “Let the Good Times Roll” was the slogan for a casino themed dance held in the commons area of Alliance High School. The decorations were kept a secret until prom night by blocking off all doors to the commons during preparation.

Prom started off with the Grand March, where students and their dates walked across the Performing Arts Center stage and show off their attire. Many kids stopped to do comical poses at each part of the stage, allowing time for pictures to be taken. Seniors are crowned prom king and queen at this time. The candidates were voted on by juniors and seniors as they walked in the door to prom. Tristan Stephenson and Ashley Quick were the lucky ones to receive the titles this year.

Following Grand March, a few pictures are taken of the Prom Court and then the music starts. Marek’s DJ Services from Rapid City, South Dakota provided all the music for the night. Strobe lights, glow sticks, and confetti transformed the commons and the variety of songs kept everyone dancing.

After prom was provided by parents to give students a safe place to hang out and socialize. Bingo, blackjack, karaoke, and a photo booth are a few of the things set up in gym. When playing games, tickets are awarded to the winners to give them a chance to receive prizes. Parents went around to many local businesses to collect donations for prizes. Radios, gift certificates, and many other gifts were handed out at the end of after prom. Everyone was guaranteed a prize and most kids won many prizes throughout the night. After prom ended around four in the morning and everyone was exhausted. It was a long night, but also very enjoyable for most.
