Boys Basketball Against Bridgeport

Boys+Basketball+Against+Bridgeport

On Saturday, January 6 the Alliance boys basketball team had a game against Bridgeport. The boys went into this game very confident and with their heads held high. They had a great start but in the end, Bridgeport came out on top with a score of 60-58.

Head coach Holst told me that the game went well for the first few quarters. He said, “They are a solid team and the game went down to the wire. I am happy with the effort from the guys!” Holst said that the game was two evenly matched teams. He stated, “It was competitive I would say, back and forth for much of the game.” Host said that if there was one thing he could change about the game it would be how they ended it. He mentioned, “We need to be able to close out some games. We play well at times but we have to be able to play with a lead.” The boys played well for the most part. They played a role and it was a team effort from start to finish. Holst was happy because they shot and attacked the rim better in this game than past. If there was anything Holst wanted to change it would be the way the team handled adversity most importantly on the defensive end. Holst said, “We have to get key stops and rebounds when the other team misses.”

Seth Myering a junior at AHS said he was happy with how the game ended even though the team lost, he mentioned that there will be other teams to face and other games to win. The boys ended up losing by two at the end of the game. Seth said, “We had the lead most of the game then they hit a couple of threes and we couldn’t get one at the end.” Seth mentioned that Bridgeport is an awesome team and they have some talented kids who play basketball so it was a pretty good game! Seth Stated, “In Any game you lose you’d like to have one or two plays back. There is never just one single play that cost us but them hitting a three at the buzzer before half certainly didn’t help.” Seth said that the boys played well as a team, and he was proud of them for sticking through it even if they did lose.

The boys had a hard game in Bridgeport on Saturday but that won’t stop them from not giving them their best. The AHS boys basketball teams next game is Thursday the 12 at Chardron starting at 7 P.M. Don’t forget to come and support!

Jamie Brooks grew up in a small town called Alliance, Jamie has always loved the country and how much open space there is for land and cattle! Jamie has  always leaned towards the care of animals, realizing it was her passion! Growing up on a ranch she has always loved the care of animals all her life. Being a ranch hand at the ripe age of 16 has given her a head start on becoming a veterinarian.Helping fix fences, ride horses, move, and work cows. I asked Jamie why she liked being a ranch hand so much she stated, “When I was little I was always around cowboys, and watching them work with cattle I thought was awesome knowing that's something I could do”.        Entering Alliance High School as a sophomore Jamie picked journalism as an elective and ended up falling in love with the class. Jamie focused on the entertainment side  of The SPUD such as writing previews for movies! Jamie stated “ I wanted to do entertainment because I was running out of ideas, but I really ended up enjoying writing about movies”.As the school year of 2023 came to an end she couldn’t wait for next year!  Continuing in her junior year  she looks forward to being in Journalism again, for the experience and she can't wait to write again for The SPUD whether its entertainment or the social aspect of high school. Such as all the school events that happen throughout the school year! As Jamie pushes through high school, she looks forward to attending college at EWC (Eastern Wyoming College) because she loves the environment and pursuing her dreams of becoming a big animal veterinarian such as livestock. “ I love taking care of cows and horses so becoming a livestock veterinarian is where my passion is.” As Jamie continues highschool I wish nothing but the best for her. I wish her very good luck on moving further with her career. As Jamie pushes forward I cant wait to see what she brings forth to The SPUD!
