Women’s rights hasn’t always been the way it is. Only a few decades ago women didn’t have the same rights they actually have now. Do you think that being a woman is still considered below man?

March 8 is International Women’s Day. Women have always been undervalued. It has always been assumed that women did not have the same abilities as men. This fact was reflected in the salary and the jobs they could do or it was believed that only they could do it, like doing housework or taking care of children. Although society has long anticipated women’s right to vote, which was declared valid a century ago, many women continue to do household chores. It is also true that more men are taking on this role or sharing it in equal parts. However, sexual violence is still present in many homes and every year hundreds of women die from sexual violence.

The goal of achieving equality between men and women makes you rethink many things because after all, we are all people and we should all be recognized for what we can do and our goals, not by our gender or physic.

This struggle is part of everyday life. The fact that you can go down the street without fear of what may happen if you go alone at night, does not normalize cases, such as when going down the street someone you do not know will tell you a flattering comment or follow you.

All of this can only change if everyone does their part, and attempts are made. It is also of great importance to try to abolish sexism in small situations that all of us already have normalized, even if it is not normal and should not be tolerated.
