Ms. Roxie Smith has been a teacher at Alliance Public Schools for 20 years. She currently teaches American Literature and Creative Writing 1 and 2 at AHS, but before she worked as an English teacher and counselor at the Middle School. After graduating high school from Newcastle, Wyoming, Ms. Smith attended college at both Chadron State College and at Black Hills State where she received a Masters in both English and Counseling. A couple of interesting facts about Ms. Smith: she holds the leg press record in Newcastle, Wyoming, and made it to National Speech Competition in 1985. In her spare time, Ms. Smith enjoys gardening, doing crafts, and cleaning. Her favorite part of teaching is watching students when they “get” concepts and making old literature relevant to today’s life. Ms. Smith says teaching is the best career and adds that every person should find something they love and can do well. She says she has found her calling in teaching.
