57th Grammy Awards

The Fifty Seventh Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 8, 2015. They were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was an event full of glittering smiles, glamorous gowns, and the biggest stars entertainment has to offer.

Some gowns, however, were not so glamorous. Among those was Rihanna, clad in a very fluffy and very pink Giambattista Valli dress. The gown has sparked endless jokes and memes on social media. Some people likened it to a shower loofah, while others compared it to Nicki Minaj’s hair. Another style choice to garner media attention was Iggy Azalea’s hair. The blonde braid that circled her head closely resembled a bird’s nest. A Grammy’s viewer placed robin’s blue eggs on her head using Photoshop, and the picture has blown up over the past few days.

Kanye West repeated his 2009 MTV Video Music Awards stunt, where he interrupted teen superstar Taylor Swift, saying, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” This time, he stormed onto the stage when Beck won album of the year, much to the horror of the audience. He quickly jumped down before stealing any more of Beck’s thunder.

Sam Smith, a rising British star, took home three of the top four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. His song “Stay With Me” won two of those three awards. Smith had heartbreak to thank for his success, saying, “I want to thank the man who this record is about, who I fell in love with last year. Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys.” He also received a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Other notable awards were presented to Pharell for Best Pop Solo Performance.
