Seth Meyers, mostly known as a star on Saturday Night Live on NBC is now the new host of “Late Night,” previously hosted by Jimmy Fallon who also got his career started out with SNL. Meyers hosted his first annual show on “Late Night” on Monday and so far it has been a successful start. Jimmy Fallon, the previous host of “Late Night” has quit the show to take Jay Leno’s place in “The Tonight Show,” since Leno has announced his retiring from the T.V. scene. While Jimmy Fallon has decided to become the new host of “The Tonight Show,” he offered his old position to his friend Seth Meyers to become the new host of “Late Night.”

Seth Meyers kicked off his debut “Late Night” series with Jimmy Fallon’s famous “Thank You Notes,” writing and saying, “I promise to treat the show with respect and dignity and to use completely original comedy pieces…starting now.” Meyers is expected to turn the show into more of a traditional talk show with monologues, rather than participating in activities, impersonations, sketches, and musical stunts. However, Meyers does crack short, humorous jokes occasionally that feeds the audience and that gets their attention. Seth Meyers is expected to continue his career in being the host of “Late Night,” for around a decade or so.

While Seth Meyers is working on his own show, his friend Jimmy Fallon is enjoying hosting “The Tonight Show.” The band U2 made an astonishing first guest musical performance on the show with powerful energy. Jimmy Fallon’s celebrity fans also made an appearance during the first week of the show, including Will Smith who contrived smiles and laughter upon the audience. Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan, and more made a appearance when they handed over currency to Jimmy because of a bet that stated he wouldn’t become the new host, when in fact he did.

Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon are expected to carry the tradition of enjoyable and humorous late night talk shows for adults for many years to come. So, when you’ve had a long day at work, sit back on the couch and either watch “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” or “The Tonight Show featuring Jimmy Fallon.”
