Homecoming Parade

It is safe to say the homecoming parade of 2023 was a success! The parade is a huge part of homecoming week. Happening the day before the dance and it features; the band, cheerleaders, high school students, and many fun floats. Each class of the high school is able to decorate their classes float, making it into something fun and exciting for everyone to enjoy. Students are able to be in the parade by joining their class or club float. Some of the floats included in the parade were LFFA, Hope Squad, and Grandview! The parade also included the attendants, homecoming king, and queen of 2023.

This years royalty were Ciera Hudson and Mario Rodriquez. Both seniors were thrilled to be chosen as the 2023 homecoming king and queen. In front of the king and queen at the parade was the band, not just the high school was performing though. The middle school band also had the chance to perform. Behind the band and the attendants were, the cheerleaders! The cheerleaders cheered loud and showed their school spirit. This is what one of the cheerleaders, Bria Steggall, had to say about this parade. “It was chilly outside, but the town was still full of spirit.”

Overall this 2023 parade seemed to be a perfect success and was a great way of showing school spirit/appreciation. Everyone who was in the parade this year did a fantastic job and i’m sure the next homecoming parade will be just as awesome as this one.

Adriana Alvarado, Staff Writer
Adriana Alvarado is a 15-year-old student at Alliance High School, this is her first year in journalism and she's a sophomore. She was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on June 23, 2008. Adriana is in her second year of cheerleading; she really likes it. It has inspired her to go to school and be more talkative and friendlier. Her inspiration to cheer was watching Bring It On when she was 7 years old ever since she wanted to be a cheerleader and her dreams came true! Adriana loves the cheer environment because it's fun and she gets to interact with the girls plus make some new friends. Other than cheer, some of her hobbies are drawing, going on night walks, doing her makeup, and organizing things in her house. She loves all these things, they are very relaxing and calming for her. Adriana lives with her dad, 3 sisters, and pet gerbil named Klaus. Her gerbil is very special to her because he's been her emotional support. When she was 7 years old, she moved back with her mom and dad. Before that, she lived with her grandma, Carol. When she moved back with her mom they moved to Osage, Missouri, for 2 years and came back in 4th grade. She was glad she left Missouri because everyone was mean there and she liked the Alliance's environment more. She is very excited to be writing with SPUD and will be very committed to her writing for the class. Once Adriana graduates high school, she wants to be a lawyer. She wants to be one because she likes watching crime shows and she thinks it would be very fun. If that fails, she would like to try and get her CNA to work at the hospital with the babies because she likes kids. Adriana is hoping that The SPUD helps her with communication skills. She's excited to write for The SPUD!
