Megan Dimmitt a graduate of Alliance High class of 2009 is making a difference in children’s lives. Megan, the titleholder of the Miss Panhandle Pageant, recently she visited the Children’s Hospital of Colorado in Denver. Megan has been doing charity work for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Of her visit Megan said,
“Visiting the Colorado Children’s Hospital was a great experience for me. It’s so easy to get caught up in the struggles of everyday life. Whether we’re dwelling on an old boyfriend or girlfriend, or sulking about something that’s just ‘not fair’, it’s so easy to be negative. I was so impressed by the positive energy of the staff members, volunteers, family members, and, most importantly the children at the hospital. These children deal with serious and life threatening medical situations on a daily basis and still manage to keep a smile on their faces. This experience reminded me to be thankful for all I have and to remember to wake up with a good attitude, regardless of what the day may bring me.”
Megan she has also been selling suckers, cookies, cake pops, and she even made a stained glass purse auctioned for $150. Last year, by doing these things, she has raised $1,700 to donate to the hospitals. Mrs. Susan Dimmitt, her mother and a teacher at AHS said visiting the children’s hospital was a good experience for Megan who plans to go to the Omaha Children’s hospital in May. Megan is also planning to compete in June for the title of Miss Nebraska!
