Alliance FCCLA attended State Conference in Lincoln this week. The conference theme was “Creating the Leaders of Tomorrow …. Today.” The main speaker was Laymon Hicks. Members attended sessions on leadership, bullying, parliamentary procedure, and a career fair.
Twelve members competed in STAR events. Ashley Quick received a gold in Life Event Planning, silvers were received by Ellie Applegarth and Shelby Ackerman in National Programs in Action; Adrianna Boyles in Nutrition and Wellness; Katlyn Mittan and Debra Walker in Health and Wellness; Delta Wilson in Illustrated Talk; Bridget Ackerman and Kacey Horn in Family Challenges and Issues; Flor Acosta in Recycle and Redesign; and Valerie Beraun and Brianne Hoesing in Chapter Service Project. Makylee Kaping has qualified for National Star in the Virtual Poster contest.
Ellie Applegarth hosted the closing session as well as completing the major tasks of a State Officer. Bri Hoesing helped with other conference duties and was in charge of the video camera that sent live feeds of the conference out on the web. Cathy Kloch, the Alliance FCCLA Adviser, received the ACE award, the Adviser Mentor Award, and the Spirit of Advising Award. She helped present other awards and supervise sessions.
