The bowling team isn’t as recognized as it should be. Why is that? They have amazing bowlers and great coaches and they even went to state last year. The bowling team, lead by Laura Mangas, are rarely acknowledged by the school. Not many people even know that there is a bowling team. The bowlers not only are superb at what they do, but they are extremely funny and athletic people. They practice just as hard as any other sport, with the first few weeks being conditioning. They’re all amazing bowlers who work well with each other. Daulton Mangas, a state returner; and Brexten Kimmel, another state returner, are just a few of the amazing people in the bowling team.
Ian Gomez, a former bowler for the team, states,” I was a little shy in the beginning but that’s kind of normal for everyone else, but I started just growing into it and I started becoming myself more and more everyday…”
Ian Gomez went to state last year for bowling, and brought the team endless amounts of joy and laughs. Many bowlers miss him greatly and he helps with bowling on Tuesdays when he works. He’s a big help to everyone on that team and because he works at the bowling alley, he helps fix the machines when the bowling team needs it.
Though they haven’t been to any competitions or meets yet, they are working really hard to prepare for them. The team itself has practice every Tuesday and Wednesday, where they stretch and then separate into their bowling groups. Everyone always ends up helping each other, which creates the strong bond that the team has. Everyone works hard to make sure no one feels left out or unheard.
