‘Do You Believe In Miracles?’
AHS Staff upsets the JRN Lovers to win the title, Pokémasters take third.
After the craziest finish to the AHS Scramble Ball tournament ever, the AHS staff, led by Dr. Unzicker and Mr. Waters, defeated the perennial favorites heading in to Thursday’s finals – the JRN Lovers.
At the beginning of the day, four teams stood unbeaten. The first game was a matchup between the dubious underdogs, the Biggest Losers, and AHS Staff. The staff came from behind to beat the Biggest Losers to advance to the finals.
The second semifinal matchup of the day was between the heavily talented JRN Lovers, and the Pokémasters. Undoubtedly, the JRN Lovers walked away victorious to face the Staff in the finals.
The consolation game between the Biggest Losers and Pokémasters proved to be a Pokémasters victory, and they ended up taking third place.
Then the stage was set for the Scramble Ball finals between the JRN Lovers and the AHS Staff. Heading into the final inning, the JRN lovers held an 8-1 lead as time was set to expire, until an infamous rule change took place to allow the Staff to get three full outs. With two outs gone, the score was deadlocked at eight when Mrs. Digmann stepped to plate and bombed one to right-center field. As Waters, who was standing on first base ran towards home, JRN pitcher Jeff Heckman tagged Waters, and according to Scramble Rules, it is illegal to tag the runner. Therefore, Waters ran home and scored the winning walk off run. A truly amazing game.
Congratulations to the Staff for being crowned Scramble Ball champions.
