The Alliance High track team begins their 2013 season with the hope of capitalizing on last year’s superb season that had them sending 12 tracksters to State competition, and they captured a total of 4 top-5 finishes last year in invites.
The boy’s team is headed by the 4×4 relay team of seniors Mitch Pancost and Keagan Hill, junior Gaige Lehl, and sophomore Cody Robinson will be highlight this year after the same four runners placed 5th at State last year. The 4×4 relay team has high hopes of taking gold at State. Junior Jason Berglund also made the State tournament last year in the triple jump with a jump of 38-6 and is hoping to return. Junior Trevor Kamerzell is looking forward to improving on his hurdles after he just missed medal opportunity at State. The Bulldogs also have the new, young talent of Cole Randall in the pole vault, Baden Shelmadine in sprints, and Kyson Schnell in the shot put and discuss.
The girl’s team is looking forward to the performance of Junior Rylee Trout, who is the only returning member from last year’s 4×4 State relay team. Trout is expected to perform well, and she is a high favorite to make it to State in sprints. Senior Olivia Vogel looks to perform well in the high jump and long jump, and to continue her success last season after medaling in three events. New talent coming up for the Lady Bulldogs will be headed by Freshmen Maggie Otto in the distance and running events, Madison Reiber in the sprints, and Kelsey Adamson in the sprints.
The Bulldogs will begin their season at the CSC Indoor Track competition on March 16. The events are set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
