The Bulldog boy’s basketball team traveled to Gordon Tuesday night, January 15. The boys had a huge win over Gordon, pummeling the Mustangs 66-33. Sophomore Jordan Mills led the team in scoring with 18 points including hitting 4 three pointers. The Bulldogs had a great game, including a very successful third quarter where they scored 27 points. Another key contributor for the Bulldogs was senior Isaac Burnham with 14 points. The week before, Tuesday night, January 8 the girl’s basketball team traveled to Gordon and also beat the Mustangs 46-36. Senior Shae Brennan led the team that night with 10 points.
Thursday night, January 17, the Bulldogs hosted the Chadron Cardinals. The Bulldog boys defeated the Cardinals 51-31 with Jordan Mills again leading the team in scoring with a total of 17 points. The girl’s basketball team had a tough game against the Cardinals losing 24-46.
Friday night, January 18, the Bulldogs were on the road once again. They headed to Ogallala to take on the Ogallala Indians. The boys beat Ogallala 52-39. Junior Trevor Kamerzell had 17 points against the Indians, including 5 threes, and Jordan Mills also contributed to the team’s win with 12 points. Mills says the boy’s have been successful because, “We started playing as a team and it obviously has shown in the last week.” Coach Michael Baker also contributes the success to the team playing together. The girls had a close game against Ogallala but came up short losing 41-44. Senior Morgan Anthony said, “We need to start playing as a team and not just for ourselves [in order] to improve as a team.” Coach Lanik said, “I believe we need to play with more confidence! This is what I would consider the X factor. I think with more confidence, more victories will come.”
The Bulldogs play Gering at home this coming Friday night, January 25 and will host Red Cloud the following day Saturday, January 26.
