ALLIANCE – The Alliance Cross-Country Invitational was held at Laing Lake Park yesterday with 15 teams competing in the event. The AHS Boys Cross Country Team finished with a 4th place finish out of six teams that held a total team score. AHS junior Brady Shimp was the leader for the Bulldogs and he said after his race, “I was just trying to finish under 20 minutes.” He did just that clocking in with 19:28 for 19th place. Other Bulldog Varsity competitors who competed for the Varsity included: AHS junior Tristan Stephenson who finished in 23rd place with a time of 19:57. Junior Ryan Waggener who clocked in at 20:15 for 25th place. Sophomore Colton Rolls who finished 26th with a personal best 20:23 and was very proud of his accomplishments and sophomore Truen Henderson who finished 34th with a time of 25:06.
In the junior varsity race, Alliance’s Eli Rischling was the low-junior varsity Bulldog finishing in 22:03 for 23rd place. The lone-senior on the team Jacob Johnson was proud of his finish as well, finishing 27th with a time of 22:15. “I’d say I met my season goals, but there’s still some more out there I can get,” said Johnson. Freshman Jose Vasquez finished 44th with a time of 25:05. In the middle school division, Alliance’s Easton O’Gorman finished 57th with an unknown time.
Kelsey Adamson, a freshman at Alliance High, was the lone-runner for the girl’s team. She finished the race in 17th place with a time of 16:41.
The next meet for the Bulldogs will be September 20, at the Ogalalla Invitational.
