On Friday, August 31, the Alliance Cross Country boys competed in the Gering Invitation. There were 12 teams that competed at the varsity level. Here are the team results:

The team finished in 6th place. Brett Mueney, a coop student from Hyannis, was one of Alliance’s top runners; however, 50 yards from the finish line he passed out due to heat exhaustion. With his finish, the team probably would have placed around 3rd. First place went to Scottsbluff and 2nd place went to Torrington.
Their next event was on Saturday, September 8, when the the Alliance Cross Country boys competed in the Chadron Invitation. There were 6 teams that competed at the varsity level. The runners for Alliance were:

The team finished in 5th place. Brett Mueney, a coop student from Hyannis, was one of Alliance’s top runners and did not run due too an injury. Brady Shimp was also nursing an ankle injury, but still ran to the best of his ability. It was a cool morning, but very dry and dusty. “We are making good progress”, said Coach Dan Carlson. In the Junior Varsity division, the placements are as followed:

“Both the junior varsity and varsity boys ran 3.1 miles on a hilly, challenging course,” said Coach Carlson. Their next running event is in Alliance. Good luck Cross country!
