The girls and boys basketball teams both competed in District Competition this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Gering Bulldogs on Thursday 55-52 to move on to the District Championship Game on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs lost to the McCook Bison 32-50 to end their season with a 12-11 record. Junior guard Andri Halouska led Alliance in scoring with 10 points. Junior Olivia Vogel added eight points for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs had a hard time containing Bison guard Megan Ruppert, who led all scorers with 23 points. The Lady Bison will now face off against the undefeated and three-time defending State Champions, Seward, in the first round on Thursday. Seward currently holds a Class B state-record winning streak of 98 games in a row, which dates back to 2008.
The boys’ team also faced off against the McCook Bison on Saturday. The Bison defeated the Bulldogs in the 1st round of the district playoffs 39-67 to end their season at 9-13. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Grant Freeze who contributed with 13 points and 4 assists.
