“Believing in yourself” is something AHS wrestling coach Travis Peak has stressed throughout the season and now the Alliance Bulldogs wrestling team will be competing in the 2012 State Championships in Omaha.
The Bulldogs this year will be sending an astonishing eight young grapplers to State including: freshman Walker Johnson; sophomore Devin Ushio; juniors Tyson Dowler, Dawson Johnson, and Freddy Lopez; and seniors Andrew Garza, Chris Gasseling, and Kelby Nelson.
“I hope we can bring home a couple wins, some medals, and gain experience,” said Peak, “Especially for these younger guys, the more experienced you get, the better off you will be.”
Coach Peak believes the kids will have a good success in the first round and adds, “If they win State, they will place number one in the state and bring Alliance Wrestling back to the days where Bulldog wrestling was dominant in the 80’s and 90’s.”
