The Alliance High boys and girls basketball teams hosted their annual Holiday Tournament on December 29 and 30 in Alliance. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Bridgeport Bulldogs in the finals while the boys lost in a heart-breaker to the Mitchell Tigers.
On Thursday, the girl’s team defeated the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs in their first game 66-26. The Lady Bulldogs were led by juniors Olivia Vogel and Shae Brennan who both scored 9.
The Lady Bulldogs lasted Bridgeport 32-25 in the championship game on Friday. Freshman Mickenzie Brennen was the high scorer with 12 points
The boy’s team started their tournament on Thursday by ousting the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs 69-25. Senior Kyle Sanders scored 12, and sophomore Trevor Kamerzell and senior Grant Freeze both finished with 11 to lead the Bulldogs.
On Friday’s final game the Bulldogs lost a close one to Mitchell 57-56. Senior Jonah Matulka led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points and Sanders finished with 11.
Next up for the both Bulldog teams will be the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Friday December 6. The boys will travel to Scottsbluff with the JV game starting at 5:30 followed by the varsity game. The girls will host the Bearcats with the JV starting at 5:30 and the varsity to follow.
