The Alliance High Volleyball team began their season on September 1, by beating the Scottsbluff Bearcats in very dramatic fashion. The varsity squad topped the Bearcats 3-2 (13-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 18-16) in what some say was the best volleyball match they had ever seen. The Bulldogs lost the first two sets, but managed to keep their composure and won the last three. The junior varsity took it to the Bearcats winning in two straight sets 2-0 (25-21 and 25-17). The freshman also downed the Bearcats 2-0 (25-20 and 25-18).
On September 6, the Bulldogs played their home opener against the Chadron Cardinals. The varsity looked really good after they won the first two sets, but lost momentum in the last three and were defeated by the Cardinals 2-3 (25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 16-25 and 10-15). The junior varsity also lost to the Cardinals 0-2 (21-25 and 27-29). The freshman team defeated the Cardinals 2-0 (25-11 and 25-9) to remain undefeated.
The Bulldogs continued their season on September 10 with tournaments in North Platte and Chadron. The varsity squad, who traveled to the eastern tournaments, lost to North Platte 2-0 (25-18 and 25-14) and lost to Gering 2-0 (25-18 and 25-21). The freshman, also competed in North Platte, they beat Gering 3-2 (23-25, 25-14 and 15-8), and lost to North Platte 0-2 (23-25 and 22-25). The junior varsity lost to Chadron 0-2 (7-25 and 16-25), the Gering Bulldogs also beat Alliance 0-2 (14-25 and 23-25), and beat Sidney 2-0 (25-16, 25-12) at the Chadron Tournament.
All three Bulldog teams will travel to Sidney on September 15. The freshman start at 5 p.m. followed by the junior varsity and varsity.
