Adventure Race Attracts Many Teams

Vada Burri, Staff Writer

This year’s Grime Time Adventure Race brought in not only racers from Nebraska, but also other racers from surrounding towns and states including South Dakota. Nineteen teams were registered for the obstacle course. There were sixteen two-person teams competing in the 3rd Annual Alliance Grime Time Adventure Race held Saturday, September 13, 2014. Teams could be co-ed, two females, or two males.

Teams started at Laing Lake and were given a map with fifteen stops. The race consisted of a bike ride and a one-mile running course. Some of the stops included hay bail climbing, a mud obstacle course, water balloon catch, ropes course, and a dunk tank. Teams could complete the race any way they wanted, as long as they completed every stop and a volunteer had signed it off.

Teams had to navigate fifteen obstacles, figuring how to complete the course with the shortest time. Winners won cash prizes; the remainder of the money raised was donated to Teen Challenge to help build kennels for dogs. Over all winners were Tim and Justine Devlin.

The co-ed division winners, first place to third place winners: Catch Us if You Can (Tim and Justine Devlin) 1:26:05; The Eliminators (Sally Bryner and Jarid Grant) 1:37:24 and Reckin’ Crew (Romen Reing and Cara Eyrich) 1:55:54.

The women’s division winners, first place to third place: BABs (Megan Spargo and Jaque Bair) 1:37:47; Mud, Sweat & Beers (Kaitlyn Stabnow and Kailee Leisy) 1:43:17; The Feet of Reddiness (Kristin Kesterson and Becca Cody) 1:54:49.

The men’s division winners, first and second winners; Troester Bros. (Will & Lane Troester) 1:37:29 and Husker Price (Nathan Griess and Alex Bergland) 1:51:38.
