On Friday,  a pregnant mother of three children attempted to drive them into the Atlantic Ocean.  She was arrested for first- degree murder. The mother, Ebony, Wilkerson tried to kill her three children, ages 3, 9, and 10.  Sheriff Ben Johnson said, “She actually told them to close their eyes and go to sleep, she was taking them to a better place.”

Bystanders and rangers went into the ocean and rescued them. Wilkerson tried to keep rescuers form pulling her children from the drowning vehicle.  But Ebony did try to deny that she was harming her children.

Spectators said they heard the screams of the children and they were waving for help out of the windows. They said they heard one child say, “Please help us, our mom is trying to kill us.”

The other child was wrestling with the mother for control of the vehicle. There was a good chance that if a man would not have seen this tragedy and would not have helped, the children would have been dead.

The 3-year-old girl, was strapped into a car seat.  A diver had dived in through the front window, to free her from the vehicle.

Ebony’s bond was set at 1.2 million dollars. A date for an arraignment was not released. Ebony said she was driving to close to the ocean and “the waves pulled her in.” Her children told investigators a completely different story.

She was hospitalized for a mental evaluation. The children had said they went to Florida to escape their father, there had been abuse in the family. They also had said “Mom was acting crazy, and speaking to Jesus.”  Ebony’s sister had called the police station hours before the incident saying she was worried of her sisters mental health.

Ebony had shouted out of the window, “I’ve got to do this.” A few hours before this happened Ebony’s sister had said that she was talking to Jesus, and demons were talking to her.

Ebony’s bond will stay at $1.2 million dollars, and most likely will live the rest of life in jail.
