            It’s that time of year again…the wonderful Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade festival begins as American families are finally getting together to celebrate the holidays of 2013. The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade festival began on November 24, 1927. Time definitely went by fast, as this year, Americans plan to celebrate the 87th anniversary of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

            The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an American classic that occurs every year on the famous streets of New York City. The 87th Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade is expected to have the giant helium balloons, floats of fancy marching bands, celebrities, performance groups, and the one and only…Santa Clause. According to many Americans, the holidays officially kick off with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. A feast full of turkey and other delicious sides are enjoyed with families around this time of year.

Popular performances that will be held at the ceremony are the Goo Goo Dolls, Kristen Chenoweth, Joan Jett, The Blackhearts, Sharon Jones, The Dap Kings, and Gavin DeGraw. Jimmy Fallon of Late Night will also make an appearance with NFL Legend, Joe Namath, at the 87th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

            One of the all-time favorites of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the famous Snoopy and his pal Woodstock. The mythical dragon from “How to Train Your Dragon” will also be seen in the skies of New York City, along with the famous Minions of Despicable Me. In addition to all of the exciting balloons that will be floating around during the ceremony, the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz will have a celebratory 47-foot hot air balloon will be featuring Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and other famous characters from the classic film.

            The 87th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off at approximately 9:00 AM eastern time and end around noon. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday treat for the children of America and the motto of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade has stood for 86 years and will continue to usher in the season of joy for years to come.
