Aesthetic and Fashion

Aesthetic+and+Fashion

Everyone has their own aesthetic; it defines their tastes and style. People will judge you by what they see at first sight, because that is just how people work. What you project to others seals your first impression, from your face to your shoes. So what does aesthetic mean, anyway? The word itself is an adjective, which by definition means “Concerned with beauty or appreciation of beauty.” Therefore, it wouldn’t be grammatically wrong to call someone aesthetic.

The most common type of aesthetics are the 80s-90s decades. This spills over into music. You may have heard of vaporwave or synthwave. Anyway, aesthetics are not limited to time periods. It could be your favorite colors or animals. Fashion is also important to your own appreciation of beauty. The 90s are a popular choice for most, especially with it being the decade that was known for its bright colors and baggy clothes. If this is your style, then this is your aesthetic. Grunge is also still around today, just in much smaller numbers than it used to have. The same goes for high waisted jeans and short bobbed hair, as well as pastel and holographic materials.

All of these were seemingly passing fads, lost to time. However, some people held onto these aesthetics. Thus, they’ve been held onto by these small groups of people who appreciate the beauty of the trends. Did you know that chokers were a 90s thing? You see them so often now that they seem more modern than that.

Aesthetic can be hard to describe by most people who don’t use the exact definition. It is generally regarded as something you either get or you don’t get. Either you’re in or you’re out. It’s more of a general concept in peoples’ minds, with each person having their own idea of a proper aesthetic. This is usually their own. However, whatever you like will work just fine.
