“50/50” is a dramedy about cancer. The film, based on star Seth Rogen and friend/screenwriter Will Reiser’s real-life experiences dealing with Reiser’s cancer, was advertised mainly as a comedy. The film touches much deeper though and does a good job of capturing the diverse ways in which people react to cancer.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a star on the rise and he does and excellent job of displaying the tragedy and confusion facing cancer in a young person. The movie is very well put together and by the end, audiences will be thinking less about the jokes and more about the biting sting cancer has on so many lives. Mission accomplished.
