Have you ever heard of a school that hosts a blood drive? Our student council hosted one on November 28. I think it’s cool and amazing that we do this because it gives us a chance to learn everything about our blood types and how the donation process works. Our goal was to have 36 units for each blood drive but in our last one, we didn’t quite make it.
I interviewed Harper Setter who said, “I love to give blood to people in need. They had a hard time finding a vein but they found one and then told me that my blood was too thin to give away right now. I had no idea why they had told me that but I would recommend the blood drive even though, I didn’t have a good experience doesn’t mean you guys should go. It is a good thing to do and I would do it again.”
Having a blood drive every few months gives us a lot of opportunities to learn how we get to help other people! I am glad that we will have this every year, it makes me happy that we get to help the hospitals and their patients. I hope this makes people realize that we need more assistance and success.
We collected 37 units in the last blood drive and 16 units in this one. We didn’t get to our goal this year because there were so many students who were sick and thought that they could donate but couldn’t.
I am not saying that students have to do it, but if you would like to go and try it out then you could always ask AHS when our next blood drive is or go to the hospital and ask to donate that way! This would be an awesome experience for anyone. Thank you guys so much for donating!
