Last Saturday, the 30th of November, the world-renowned high-octane actor, Paul Walker, died in a car crash in Santa Clarita, California, leaving behind his 15 year-old daughter, Meadow. Paul Walker was in the passenger seat of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT; his publicist, Ame Van Iden, announced his death later that day. The driver, Roger Rodas, was also pronounced dead. Roger was one of Walker’s team drivers.

Walker is mostly known for his role in the Fast and the Furious franchise, as the undercover cop Brian O’Connor.  He also has a role in the movies, Varsity Blues, Into the Blue, Takers, She’s All That, and Eight Below. His career started as a toddler with a Pampers commercial.

Los Angeles Coroner Investigator Dana Bee told CNN on Sunday it would take 48 hours to fully identify the remains found within the twisted wreckage. The crash lef the bodies unrecognizable, therefor the families are forced to gather dental records to properly identify the bodies.  Paul and Roger had just left Paul Walker’s charity event, Reach Out Worldwide, when Roger presumably lost control of the vehicle.

The car is a notoriously difficult vehicle to handle even for professional drivers, according to Autoweek magazine. According to the magazine, a top driver called the car “scary.” It is powered by a V-10, 610-hp engine.

Antonio Holmes was at the charity event when the wreck happened. “We all heard from our location,” Holmes told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal. “It’s a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire. We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop; we tried…we tried. We went through fire extinguishers.”

Walker had planned, with Roger’s help, to organize the charity event on Saturday to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan; which was common of Walker’s caring spirit, and is not new to the world. Walker wasn’t just a car enthusiast on the silver screen; off screen, the actor competed in the Redline Time Attack racing series. On his verified Twitter account, Walker described himself as “outdoorsman, ocean addict, adrenaline junkie … and I do some acting on the side.”

Paul Walker will not be missed only for his role as an actor, but as the kind, generous spirit that has given much to this world.
