We always plan what to eat during Christmas because of the cost and multiple food choices, but here are the top 5 most recommended types of food for this year. Number one is not a surprise; it is turkey; it’s on the spot during the Holly Jolly Season. Turkey is such an iconic food during this time of year, and one way to make yours stand out is to add a sweet and sour type of glazing this year. Number two is another iconic food: stuffing. This food item is usually store-bought, but you could make your own with some sage, sausage, and mushrooms. For a more complex recipe, search online or find it in old cookbooks.
In the third spot would be mashed potatoes, and this American classic will always be a staple meal for most U.S. citizens. A small recipe would be to use some Yukon golden potatoes with plenty of cream and butter, and then later on, if you think there is not much flavor, add pepper, salt, and/or some garlic. In the fourth spot would be gravy, which, paired with the potatoes, would be the best combo, mainly if you use store-bought or homemade gravy. One homemade gravy recipe would be the old turkey drippings and some good pantry favorites. The fifth and final spot would be cranberry sauce; this sweet or sometimes sour-tasting sauce is perfect for this list. One homemade idea for this would be using new and frozen cranberries and mixing them in with some spices like cinnamon, ginger, and clover. This list is one of many foods that should be used. Some other foods are ham, beef tenderloin, and green bean casserole. These foods are all options, but other foods that go down family heritage are more memorable than these. These top 5 have been the most popular in American households and probably will be for a long time. In other words, have a pleasant and safe Christmas year, and eat all you can!
