This year for Christmas, the teachers had to create Christmas themed doors to compete in a Christmas door contest. There were many options as seen in the variety of decorations, some doors include: A Van Gogh Starry Night inspired door, a door with popular christmas movies, a door based on the Polar Express, and even a whole gingerbread hallway! Because these doors caught my attention I decided to create a list of my top 3 doors!
My favorite door, and the one I want to win, is Mrs. Rebecca Thompson’s door and here’s my reasoning. Mrs. Thompson’s door is just perfect, It’s a gingerbread house that you can clearly see took time. People have told me “It doesn’t count” or “She cheated!” but I disagree. Yes, it does utilize the wall but it was a smart idea, I believe you should be able to think outside of the box. She utilized the walls to add onto the door, you can’t have a house without walls!
The door I believe is a close runner up has got to be Mr. Hasz’s door. It’s based on an a super classic christmas movie, The Polar Express. Hasz’s door features the train from the Polar Express driving out of a tunnel. Hasz’s door also utilizes the walls, again showing that thinking outside of the box is key to making a creative design. The only reason I ranked this second was because when I think about Christmas I think: candy canes, gingerbread houses, Christmas lights and presents.
The door I put third wasn’t as extravagant as the other two but was still amazing. It was Mrs. Acosta-Reza’s door, this door featured a man you could only describe as muscular and defined saying feliz navidad. The door just makes sense, Mrs. Acosta-Reza teaches Spanish and “Feliz Navidad!” translates to “Merry Christmas!” in English. Its such a simple door yet it has a very significant meaning while staying true to the Christmas theme!
Overall I think all of the doors were very creative, but there were some that stood above the rest. I really enjoyed looking at all of these doors and discovering the reasons behind them. I hope that this tradition continues in years to come. With that being said, ave a Merry Christmas and enjoy the break!
