The Alliance Recreation Center is a huge part of our community in many aspects. One of the many ways they are involved is through the ARC after school program. This program strives to provide a place for kids after school if their parents are still working or busy. Grandview and Emerson Elementary bus the students in the after school program to the recreation center; meanwhile, the ARC brings a bus to Immanuel Lutheran School and St. Agnes to pick up their students.
There are three sessions held after school, each session being 45 minutes long, these sessions include: S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Art, and Reading. In S.T.E.M, children are taught by way of mini-games like Jeopardy and do experiments. In the art room children are tasked with designing many things such as: Mummies, Candy Skulls, Hedgehogs out of pinecones and many other things. In the reading chat room, students work on their handwriting, read books, watch educational videos, and other things
These sessions are used to help children improve their academic, creative and social skills. The teachers and kids love it there and hope that the community can see all of the good things they are doing!
