The E-sports team is competing in the winter season this year and the game they will be playing is Overwatch 2. This team will have five members and two subs for any ineligible or sick members. The players will compete in small tournaments to establish roles. The players on the Overwatch 2 team will be playing custom games with each other. The 5-player teams will be doing this to see how they can work as a squad and see if they can even play as a squad.
This year, the team will be playing on PCs that should be up and running for the Overwatch 2 winter season. They have 12 people and two of them are backups this year. The team would like more people to join, no matter their knowledge of the game. All the team asks is good sportsmanship, to have fun, and to accept help. This year’s team would like first-year students to join the E-gaming club or the E-sports team. The people who are signed up for the team this year are Marcus Robertson, Jerry Hampton, Alex Lara, Bayleigh McCracken, Mason Elford, Jeremiah Murphy, Agustin Gonzalez, Brayden Ward, James Schmidt, Jamyson Red Bear, Angel Trejo, and Alex Montgomery. One small thought from Alex, “Pretty excited for it, I’m personally gonna join it and compete.” We hope the rest of this year’s Overwatch 2 team will be excited about competing and having fun.

About the Contributor
Shelton Ward, Staff Writer
Shelton Ward is a 17-year-old senior at Alliance High School. He was born on September 2, 2005 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He lived in Valentine, NE for 12 years before moving to Alliance five years ago. Shelton has worked at Runza for the last year with some of his friends, but plans on becoming a medic in the U.S Marine Corps because he wants to be able to save lives. Another reason is his older brother Shawn who was in the military; he was a machine-gunner on a Humvee in Iraq. Shawn is also his inspiration.
His favorite subject is history because of the breakthroughs made in science and the bravery of men which proves his love for helping others. More proof of his love for helping others is his favorite movie, Hacksaw Ridge. He likes it specifically because of the use of medical skills. Shelton is also a teacher-aid for Mrs. Harris because she teaches technological classes. Shelton loves technology and this is shown especially by his involvement in the Esports team here at AHS. Some random facts about Shelton are that his favorite food is Mexican because of the variety you get in it. His favorite music genre is country because of the abundant amount of it here.
This is Shelton’s first year being a writer for the SPUD, he chose the SPUD because he is interested in writing and wants to learn how to get even better at it. Shelton can’t wait to provide fun and interesting stories to all of you!
