The Alliance High School Jazz Band is mostly known for playing at the Art Gala in December, but what else do they do? Everyone knows, or is told, that they’re a great jazz band, but how hard do they work to make themselves good? Besides working on music, a lot more happens in the jazz band. People build bonds with each other and help work to make each other better. It’s much more than just playing music and tuning instruments. The people in the jazz band had to go through an audition, which shows their determination to work for the class. Laura Mangas, the director, also makes sure it’s a safe environment for everyone.
In an interview with Landyn Branstiter, he states,” Without a doubt, the jazz band, along with other ensemble classes, put in tremendous effort during rehearsals. Some of the music we tackle is incredibly challenging, but the dedication of all students shines through.”
Landyn has been in jazz band for an extremely long time, and plays a variety of instruments. He is currently a senior and plans on continuing to play for the college he chooses after he graduates. He wants to become, or is already by the way he helps people, a musician and teacher.
All in all, the jazz band is a very hardworking group of musicians, and the people in the jazz band put in a lot of effort.
