Mental Health Awareness
The month of May is known for spreading Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental Health Awareness is very important for many people, especially most people today. Mental Health can cause a vast difference in lifestyle due to its maintenance.
There are nearly four hundred fifty million people worldwide who are currently living with a mental illness. Helping the body’s mental health is very important to keep it afloat and life positive. Two-thirds of the people diagnosed with mental health disorders have not sought treatment.
Treatment can be a major factor in keeping mental health well. Seeking a therapist or letting a family member know may help tremendously. Although it may not be the best option for some people, doing something may help. The things that may help the body get going can include: going for a walk, hanging out with friends, reading a book, and most importantly, staying off social media. Staying off social media can make a huge impact on many people’s lifestyles.
Social media takes a huge toll on mental health and self-esteem. It is a big problem that has and may lead to body dysmorphia. Social media presents unrealistic beauty standards and it has degraded most people today. Social Media is prevalent in today’s society and has a hold on many people. Especially students today. So, staying off the internet can be good for the body and the mind.
Some people are hesitant to seek help or talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged. To help your mental health you can contact the Alliance High School’s counselors.
