Busy Schedules at AHS
April and May are busy months at Alliance High School, for not only the students but also the teachers and parents. With school wrapping up and summer about to start, every person associated with Alliance High School has frantic schedules and busy days.
On April 4, 2014, a handful of selected students attended Scholastic Day at Chadron State College. Senior Cody Nye won first place in Business Management Decision Making. Senior Andrew Fults won first place in Earth Science and senior Andy Fults placed second place. Sophomore Anthony Hare won third place in Business Information Systems. Junior Brian Gould won first place in Simulated News Reporting and sophomore Madison Hiemstra placed second. Bethany Baker placed second in English Usage. Alliance High School was in Division II and earned 8.756 total points.
April and May are months of testing at Alliance High School. On April 8 and 10, juniors start NeSA science testing. On April 15 and 16, the juniors take NeSA math testing. The juniors will be taking the ACT test at 8:15am until 12:00pm on April 23. April 29 and May1, the juniors take NeSA language arts testing including a late start for the rest of the students at 9:30. The week of May 5, in the subjects of math and science, the1 students will be taking the MAPS tests. They will also be taking the MAPS test on the week of May 12 in English.
Throughout the rest of the year, athletics will be running constantly. Students are participating in track, golf, and girls tennis. April 17 is the Alliance Invitational Track Meet. The Alliance Golf meet which is held at the Alliance’s Skyview Golf Course, on April 26.
There will be extra activities including Prom on April 12th, and districts for both band and show choir on April 23, hosted by the high school. . There is the musical, West Side Story, on April 24—26 all at 7pm. May 14th is the last day for seniors. They will have senior breakfast, and graduation rehearsal.
The next few months will be crazy around the Alliance High School. Make sure you are on time for everything and ready to go!
