This year the tennis team had their ups and downs. Their work paid off by getting closer with each other and gaining more experience. Even though they faced challenges their rigorous practice showed by winning matches!
On September 14, the AHS Tennis team played Gering at Lexington, Nebraska. Antonio Escamilla played two matches and won one. Tony gained experience from the match he won by learning how the other players played. Alliance as a whole won one match and lost four. The AHS boys’ tennis team had a meet in Hastings where they competed against four other teams; Adams Central, North Platte, Norfolk, and Kearney. Although, Alliance worked hard, they placed last. Despite the team having a rough season they still went to state! State was held on October 13 and 14, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The team made it to the first round and unfortunately lost. Our number two singles, Tre Redbear, put up a good fight against Adams Central but lost (1-6) and (2-6).
Sadly, all of our players were eliminated by the end of the first round. The team thinks they all had a really good year and look forward to next season. Everyone hopes that they do better next year and win the state championship!
