The Amazon Dash wand displays a new look into the future of grocery shopping.

The site of Amazon.com has been retailing merchandise for two decades and starting this year, a new device called the “Amazon Dash” is expecting to change the way Americans throughout the country purchase their groceries. The Amazon Dash is a WI-FI wand as some people may call it, that users speak or scan a particular product that they wish to receive. The device then transfers the items that the specific user asks or scans and lists it in the shopping cart.

So, what exactly does the Amazon Dash device look like? Well, the device is simply a black and white wand-shaped gadget that has a speaker built into it that recognizes the human voice for easy shopping. The Amazon Dash also has the ability to scan an item’s barcode to recognize the certain product that the user wishes to purchase.

The service for purchasing grocery items online from the Amazon Dash charges the user $300.00 a year, where the products will be delivered to the consumer in person. There has been huge controversy on how Amazon Dash and their AmazonFresh service might overlook the traditional way of purchasing groceries from a local grocery store However, Tegan Ramirez, a student from Alliance High School claims that Amazon has been retailing items for such a long time and it didn’t seem to hurt retail stores such as JCPenny; in fact the site actually helped these retail stores because Amazon allows the stores to create their own shopping business within the site.

So you may be asking yourself, “If I become a member of the AmazonFresh service and I order groceries using the Amazon Dash wand, when can I expect to receive the items that I purchased?” The answer to that particular question is as little as one day for delivery right at your front door. The consumers of the service can even purchase alcohol-related items, however the deliverer will ask for proper identification and an adult signature if any alcohol is purchased for the prevention of underage consumption.

The ability to use the Amazon Dash to purchase items from AmazonFresh is only available in Seattle and California as of right now. We can expect for the Amazon Dash/AmazonFresh service to slowly make its way across the United States in the near future.

The Amazon Dash wand is for free for anyone who wishes to use Amazon’s AmazonFresh service, but they will have to wait before they can actually use the device. We all should be aware that technology is constantly improving and changing. I’ll leave the golden question up to you…Do you think that the Amazon Dash will actually change the way individuals in this age shop for their groceries?
