The World Trade Center known for replacing the Twin Towers is now known for something else. Daredevil Justin Casquejo, age 16, was arrested last month and now beginning his trail process for climbing the 1,776 ft. skyscraper. Casquejo appeared before Midtown Community Court Judge Felicia Mennin, who ordered him to return April 30th . He was charged with criminal trespass, but prosecutors also added a BASE jumping charge. These are both considered misdemeanors in the state of New York.

The dauntless climber says he plotted before his great climb. “ I was walking around all night trying to figure out how to enter it.”  Said Justin. And how did this teen mange to enter the property of this monument. Well according to documents Casquejo slipped through a hole in the fence around the construction sight. He then used a ladder to reach scaffolding that took him to the 6th floor. After taking the elevator to the 88th floor, he then climbed the stairs to the 104th floor where he managed to sneak past a sleeping security guard and reaching the roof top, then using a ladder again to reach the antenna of the building.

Yet even after saying “ I know there are no trespassing.” Casquejo stayed at the top of the monument for almost 2 hours taking pictures, and just looking out onto the city. When he finally did decide to come down Justin Casquejo was arrested with his camera and cell phone being seized after authorities obtained a search warrant.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that own the 16-acre trade center site is now amending security since this young teen hasn’t been the only trespasser since the building has been under construction. Despite the breaches that have happened, Bill Bratton, commissioner of the NYPD, is confident in the ability of various public and private entities to control the site.
