Joseph Paul Franklin, known as a white supremacist serial killer, was on death row for the murder of Gerald Gordon and approximately 22 killings between 1977 and 1980 in his attempt to start a race war.

Franklin also admitted to the attempt of assassination of Larry Flynt the publisher of Hustler, and Vernon Jordan. He said,”  I wish I could go back and change things, but I can’t do that, so I’m trying to make the best of things. If I had some way to make amends to them I would do that.”

His execution was scheduled for midnight on Wednesday, November 20th but was delayed because of court appeals. He was given lethal injection and died ten minutes later. He tried “legal maneuvers” saying that lethal injection was a cruel punishment.

He admitted to killing two black boys, waiting at train tracks for the first interracial couple to walk by or a black person. He said if he could take back the killings of the boys he would, but has different things to worry about other than the killings that he has done. He said that he is a changed man after the fact that he spent time in prison. He thought that it was his mission by God to save the white race. He thought that the white race would be eliminated due to the fact of interracial relationships and there would soon be no whites left. He doesn’t believe that now and said that if he could go back he would change it all.
