Prom 2014

Last Saturday, April 12,, was my first prom at Alliance High School. Prom was the event at AHS I was looking forward to the most. In Spain we don’t participate in prom and everyone told me that it was the best dance of the year.

I had a great time looking for a fancy dress, shoes and accessories that I could wear for the night.

Some friends and I started getting our hair and make up ready for the evening at two in the afternoon. It was fun, since I have never dressed up so formal for a dance.

After getting ready we went to eat dinner at Sam and Louis Pizzeria before prom, we then came back to my house and got in our dresses. We also took pictures and then drove to the high school for the Grand March and coronation that was taking place in the PAC at 8pm.

At first I didn’t want to do the Grand March because I was very scared and nervous to walk through a big amount of people in the audience with my prom dress. My friends ended up convincing me and I’m very glad that I did do it. It was a wonderful experience that I will always remember.

Right after the Grand March and coronation we went to the commons area, which looked amazing with all the decorations. The Marek’s  DJ service, started to play the music and everyone started dancing. It was a successful night even though I was exhausted afterwards. The dance was amazing, I loved it.

Prom ended at midnight so I left with some friends and then we came back to the school for the after prom. I really appreciate what the parents did, so we could keep on enjoying the night. The food that they had laid out for us was great,  I also enjoyed all the different games they prepared for us, specially playing bingo and the photo booth.

I’m so happy I decided to go to prom, it was an awesome experience that I will never forget and it definitely was my favorite American dance that I went to during this exchange year.
