My Homecoming Experience
Wow, what an amazing week I’ve had at AHS for homecoming week. Everything was all so new and fun because in my hometown we don’t celebrate homecoming.
The first thing I found fun and exciting to see that through the whole of the week, everyday the students and staff would have to dress up with the choices of themes the student council would have chosen and all the halls of the school we’re decorated really nice with the school colors.
On Wednesday and Thursday we did an activities schedule and we all went to the gym to play “scramble ball”, it was funny watching the teams run like crazy and it was great that the staff got involved, with the students.
On Friday, we got out at noon so we could ride in the parade at 2:00 pm, but due to the bad weather it got delayed and it got changed for Saturday morning.
The homecoming football game, was that night, was so excited and I arrived to the game and there’s was a huge crowd to cheer on the Bulldogs the band was well dressed and ready for their performance ,the cheerleaders ready to cheer, the concession stand selling yummy food, and the coaches with their players getting ready for the big game.
I loved it, id never seen anything like this apart from the typical American movies, it got really cold but it was totally worth watching even though the team lost, they did a really great job and everyone was proud of them.
Friday night, the Homecoming Dance took place at the AHS gym. It started around 10 pm and finished at midnight. People started arriving and started joining the dance floor with the dJ’s awesome music.
As for the dance, I found it weird because people here dance different and the music they dance to is different as well. In the end it was a fun night and now I’ve got a new way to show my friends back at home how Americans dance.
On Saturday morning during the parade I rode with my junior class float. It was great fun and it was very well decorated.
Over-all even though most people said that homecoming used to be more fun, I really enjoyed it and hope that there will be more fun events during my stay in Alliance High School.
