My Love for Painting

Painting has been around for over 30,000 years and is still a very huge thing today. Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface. The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. In art, the term painting describes both the act and the result of the action.

Usually people start painting as kids in school and gradually work with it through 12th grade or, pursue to paint even more after. As my love for art is endless, painting will always be my go to. I would like to pursue in painting way after 12th grade. Painting isn’t always for fun, but also can help with stress, anxiety, depression and so much more! Studies have shown that most people who try art as a form of therapy or stress relief have experienced significant reductions in their cortisol levels when doing so.

Did you know that art used to be an Olympic Event? Art competitions formed part of the modern Olympic Games during its early years, from 1912 to 1948. The competitions were part of the original intention of the Olympic Movement’s founder, Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin.

If you haven’t tried painting in a while you should get out and try it again!
