Upcoming Movies: October 2016
October is a month dedicated to pumpkins and ghost stories. With halloween at the end of the month, horror films and comedies flood the screens. Take a look at this month’s upcoming movies.
October 7th The Girl on the Train (R)
Rachel Wilson has struggled after her recent divorce, her ex-husband has moved on, married another woman, and has an infant. Rachel takes a train to work in New York every day that just so happens to pass by her old house, where her ex-husband still lives with his new family. A few houses down live the Hipwells, a young happy couple. In her mind they are the perfect family. Every day she enjoys seeing their perfect life for a brief moment in passing. One day on her way to work, she witnesses something “imperfect”, something shocking, something that fills her with rage. The next morning, she awakes with no memory of the night before, various bruises and wounds on her body, a raging hangover, and the overwhelming feeling that something bad has occurred. As TV reports later inform her, Megan Hipwell, the woman in her “perfect family”, has gone missing. Rachel soon finds herself involved in a police investigation to find Megan in hopes of reuniting her perfect family and finding out what she did the night Megan vanished.

October 14th Max Steel (PG-13)
Teenager Max McGrath discovers that he holds the ability to generate the universe’s most powerful energy. In order to contain this energy, he must bond with the only being able to contain such power, a techno-organic extraterrestrial by the name of Steel. The duo meet and initially struggle to get along and accept their intertwined fates, but they slowly grow on each other. They unite to become a superhero with unmeasurable strength, Max Steel. Max Steel must gather all his power and battle to protect Earth against unstoppable enemies from another galaxy.

October 21st 31 (R)
Horror film mastermind, Rob Zombie has written and directed yet another dark,twisted film. On October 30, five carnival workers are kidnapped and taken hostage. On October 31, Halloween, their captors force them to endure in a life or death game, known as 31. The game lasts twelve hours and is bound to end in a bloodbath. The five captives are forced to fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs out for their blood. Will any of the captives make it out alive? Will they themselves become homicidal maniacs?

October 28th Inferno (PG-13)
Robert Langdon, a famous symbologist played by Tom Hanks, finds himself following a trail of clues leading back to the Italian poet, Dante. Dante is a medieval poet widely recognized for his poem “Divine Comedy”. Langdon soon experiences amnesia as he wakes up in an Italian hospital, where he teams up with Doctor Sienna Brooks, played by Felicity Jones. Brooks hopes to help Langdon retrieve his lost memories and put together the puzzle pieces he’s been picking up along the way. The two travel across Europe, determined to stop a deadly plot that could end life on Earth as we know it.
